Watch Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao go nose to nose for the first time today at 4:30 p.m. on CBSSports.com, which will be LIVE streaming the Los Angeles press conference that will officially announce their May 2 fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
It's the only formal press event scheduled in the 52 days between here and fight night – and presumably the only time the combatants will see each other before the May 1 weigh-in – so it'll be interesting to see if Mayweather ratchets up the villainous persona that he's assumed against past opponents.
He was business-like and composed for each of the 10 stops in a massive press tour to hype his September 2013 fight with Canelo Alvarez, but jawed with both Marcos Maidana – and Maidana's outspoken trainer, Robert Garcia – on the way to two fights with the Argentine in 2014.
Randy Gordon, former editor of Ring magazine and former chairman of the New York State Athletic Commission, told CBSSports.com that he expects something in between demonstrative and docile from "Money" today.
"Mayweather playing the hero? No way! But I think he will get through without any lunacy,” Gordon said. “I think he will be on, but not ranting and in Pacquiao's face."
